Intel Core i5
Intel is about to launch Lynnfield, a processor based on Nehalem, in Q3 2009. Lynnfield has integrated with memory controller and 8MB L3 cache, supporting technologies such as Turbo Boost. It doesn’t utilize QPI (Core i7 Bloomfield utilize it instead) and only supports dual channel DDR3 memory. Lynnfield features mature DMI (Direct Media Interface) and uses LGA1160 (updated to LGA1156 later) socket, while Core i7 used LGA1366. Lynnfield will have four x86 processing cores with HyperThreading enabled, 256 KB of L2 cache per core and a shared 8 MB L3 cache. The expected price for mainstream market is under $200.
