The Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Edition (XE) surfaced in an XtremeSystems.org forum thread, where two overclockers were able to beat the 3DMark05 world record of 45,474 points, set by AMD at its presentation of the Phenom II X4 processor running at 6.30 GHz. The new record of 47,026 points was made with a CrossFireX setup of two radeon HD4870X2 and a Core i7 975 XE running at 5.239 GHz.

Intel is going to launch a new batch of Core i7 920 processors, that have their stepping updated from the current C-0 to D-0. It seems that a motherboard bios update will be required to identify the new CPUs correctly. Intel will start shipping the new stepping on March 2nd.
