AMD Sabine Platform Will Support DirectX 11
As reported by Expreview, AMD is working on a notebook platform with DirectX 11 compliant integrated GPU. The integrated GPU will be part of the APU (Accelerated Processing Unit), a new design approach where the CPU package holds both the CPU and the northbridge in a multichip module. The AMD APU, codenamed Llano, will be part of the Sabine mobile platform together with the SB9xxM series southbridge. More »
Intel Presents The Westmere Family Of Processors
Yesterday Intel introduced its plans concerning the upcoming Westmere family of processors, a set of processors built using the company's 32 nm second generation high-K silicon fabrication technology, based on the Nehalem micro architecture. This means that Intel will launch the first working 32 nm bassed microprocessor in both mobile and desktop systems by the end of the current year. The new process will minimize production costs and make the company ready to supply a large demand of chips. More »
New Core i7 975 XE Surfaces, New Stepping for 2.66GHz Core i7 920 Processor
The Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Edition (XE) surfaced in an XtremeSystems.org forum thread, where two overclockers were able to beat the 3DMark05 world record of 45,474 points, set by AMD at its presentation of the Phenom II X4 processor running at 6.30 GHz. The new record of 47,026 points was made with a CrossFireX setup of two radeon HD4870X2 and a Core i7 975 XE running at 5.239 GHz. More »
New Intel Low Power Mobile CPUs
Intel is planning to counter the AMD Athlon Neo series CPUs, a set of low power mobile CPUs specifically designed for ultra thin notebooks. With a price range between netbooks and notebooks, ultra thin machines like the HP Pavilion dv2 are receiving a lot of attention from AMD with its Athlon Neo single core CPU, but Intel will soon get in the game with a set of CPUs that are similar to the one used in Apple's MacBook Air. The processors will come in a 22x22 mm packaging and are expected to include ULV chips with rated TDPs as low as 10W. More »
Athlon X2 7000 Series Reviews
AMD has released three new dual core processors, the Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition clocked at 2.70 GHz, the 7550 clocked at 2.50 GHz and the 7450 clocked at 2.40 GHz. Every single core, manufactured at 65nm and codenamed Kuma, has 512 KB of L2 cache and a shared L3 cache of 2 MB. It features also HyperTransport 3.0 system interface. Memory controller provides native support to the PC2-8500 memory (1066 MHz ddr2). Here are some reviews and benchmarks: More »
Intel Core i5
Intel is about to launch Lynnfield, a processor based on Nehalem, in Q3 2009. Lynnfield has integrated with memory controller and 8MB L3 cache, supporting technologies such as Turbo Boost. It doesn’t utilize QPI (Core i7 Bloomfield utilize it instead) and only supports dual channel DDR3 memory. Lynnfield features mature DMI (Direct Media Interface) and uses LGA1160 (updated to LGA1156 later) socket, while Core i7 used LGA1366. More »
Amd Launch Schedule for 2009
