Phenom II Black Edition TWKR 42

AMD created a small number of limited edition TWKR processors expressly for the extreme overclocking community. Called the AMD Phenom II X4 42 Black Edition TWKR processor, it has a part number of 42 that means 4 cores at 2 GHz. Based on Deneb C2 core, it comes with an unlocked multiplier and a default vCore value of 1.44v. TWKR 42 features 6 MB shared of L3 cache, each individual core also features 64 KB of L1 data cache, 64 KB of L1 instruction cache, and 512 KB of L2 cache. More »

Phenom II X4 955 Coming on April 20th

Based on the 45 nm Deneb core, Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition supports AM3 socket motherboards, and DDR3 memory. It features a core clock speed of 3.20 GHz (16.0x200 MHz), 512 KB of L2 cache per core, 6 MB of L3 cache and and a TDP of 125W. Being a Black Edition CPU, it should be overclocker friendly thanks to its unlocked multiplier. New Core i7 975 XE Surfaces, New Stepping for 2.66GHz Core i7 920 Processor

The Intel Core i7 975 Extreme Edition (XE) surfaced in an XtremeSystems.org forum thread, where two overclockers were able to beat the 3DMark05 world record of 45,474 points, set by AMD at its presentation of the Phenom II X4 processor running at 6.30 GHz. Unlocked memory multiplier for Core i7 920 and Core i7 940 CPUs

Intel has decided to enhance the overclocking capabilities of two of its forthcoming Core i7 processors. Core i7 940 and Core i7 920, which are clocked at 2.93GHz and 2.66GHz respectively, will feature unlocked memory controlers, so motherboard makers can write a BIOS with option to increase memory frequency. This means that end users will be able to change the memory multiplier and thus the memory frequency beyond the stock DDR3 800/1066MHz speed. More »
