Intel is about to launch Lynnfield, a processor based on Nehalem, in Q3 2009. Lynnfield has integrated with memory controller and 8MB L3 cache, supporting technologies such as Turbo Boost. It doesn’t utilize QPI (Core i7 Bloomfield utilize it instead) and only supports dual channel DDR3 memory. Lynnfield features mature DMI (Direct Media Interface) and uses LGA1160 (updated to LGA1156 later) socket, while Core i7 used LGA1366. More »
Nehalem Lynnfield pictures
A photo comparison of the yet to come Nehalem cpus, known as Lynnfield, have been posted in the asian forum XFastest. Lynnfield is scheduled to launch in Q4 2009, this version of Nehalem uses Socket LGA1160 instead of Bloomfield socket LG1366. It uses DMI link which only supports dual channel DDR3 instead of the QPI link that the Bloomfield uses for triple channel DDR3. More »
